When it comes to data engineering, analytics, and machine learning, Databricks has rapidly become one of the most prominent platforms in the data landscape. Many practitioners choose to validate their expertise by earning Databricks certifications and, optionally, listing their achievements in the Databricks Certified Credential Holder Directory. Meanwhile, highly active community leaders often join the ranks of the Databricks MVP program, showcasing their leadership and deep product knowledge.
I have collected some insights gathered from publicly listed profiles in the Databricks Certified Directory. Please note these statistics represent only those who have opted in to display their credentials. Many professionals do not share their certifications publicly, or may have extensive hands-on experience without official credentials. Therefore, while these numbers provide an interesting glimpse, they are naturally incomplete.
Certification Highlights
- Databricks Certified Machine Learning Professional: 315 profiles
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate: 4,740 profiles
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional: 1,583 profiles
- Databricks Certified Machine Learning Associate: 501 profiles
If we look at Data Engineer Professional by country, we see a strong presence in India (310), followed by the USA (152), and the UK (62). Countries like Australia, Canada, Germany, and Brazil each contribute several dozen more professionals.
Meanwhile, the Machine Learning Professional certification — often held by those focusing on more advanced modeling and ML lifecycle management — shows strong representation in the USA (53), India (28), and Australia (14), as well as many countries across Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
Databricks MVPs
Databricks MVPs are typically thought leaders, conference speakers, bloggers, and community mentors recognized by Databricks for their contributions. From the official MVP list, there is a notable concentration in the United States (21 MVPs), followed by India (5). We also see representation in Europe — France, Norway, Poland, the Netherlands, the UK — and other regions across the globe.
Summary
These publicly available numbers clearly highlight a broad distribution of Databricks professionals across the USA, Europe, India, and beyond. Of course, not everyone lists their certifications or appears in the MVP program, and plenty of skilled practitioners rely on hands-on expertise rather than official credentials. So while this snapshot is a fun curiosity, it only scratches the surface of the global Databricks community.
